Camtasia Relay Resources


Camtasia Relay allows faculty to capture, publish, manage and share inclass lectures or additional content for out-of-class review.
- Video Computer Screen Capturing with Audio. There are two parts to Camtasia Relay
- the recorder, which runs on your computer, and
- the server which processes and publishes all presentations from a TTU hosted server.
What you will need:
- Web Account to maintain your profile and publishing destination information.
- Camtasia Relay Recorder
- Wired connection to the Internet. You do not need an Internet connection for recording. You DO need to be connected sometime after the recording by WIRE to the Internet to send the recording to the server for publication.
- Fill out the Online Request Form. The Camtasia Relay Administrator will...
- setup a web account for you in Camtasia Relay located at http://camtasia.tntech.edu
- setup an account for you on the TTU CMAT server, the destination for your recording located at http://cmat.tntech.edu/(username)/
- Download the Camtasia Relay recorder from your web account located at http://camtasia.tntech.edu
Audio Testing
- Select the microphone icon above Audio Devices.
- Select from the list of input devices.
- Select the slider under the Preview and move it to the right to increase the volume.
Presentation Details
- Select the drop-down menu under Profile.
- Choose the profile.
- Enter a title (this can be done before or after the recording is complete).
- Enter a description (this can be done before or after the recording is complete)
- Select the large red Record Button.
- Bring up Camtasia Relay from the open application tabs below and select the Stop Button. (Hotkeys are available. See below for setup)
- Select Submit
- Options Before Submitting
- Preview the presentation by selecting the Play Button.
- You may select the Trimming Button to trim away portions of the recording at the beginning or the end.
Profiles
You have been given four initial profiles to work with. You can organize recordings for multiple courses or meetings by designating a specific profile for each one. Each profile corresponds to a folder with the same name within your folder on the CMAT server. Your folder is located at http://cmat.tntech.edu/(username)
- CMAT-TTU-Course-1 is located at http://cmat.tntech.edu/(username)/CMAT-TTU-Course-1/
All of the recordings created under this profile will be located here. - Example:
- CMAT-TTU-Course-1 is assigned for MATH1710-001 class recordings
- CMAT-TTU-Course-2 is assigned for MATH1730-006 class recordings
- CMAT-TTU-Course-3 is assigned for MATH1920-001 class recordings
- CMAT-TTU-Course-4 is assigned for Mathematics Club Presentations
Hotkeys Setup
- Select the keyboard icon above Hotkeys.
- Select the checkbox next to Record/Pause hotkey.
- Select the open textbox that is labeled Click to record shortcut.
- Select the desired keys in sequence. (Example: control key, down arrow key)
- Select the checkbox next to Stop hotkey.
- Select the open textbox that is labeled Click to record shortcut
- Select the desired keys in sequence. (Example: control key, up arrow key)
- Login to the web account at http://camtasia.tntech.edu
- username: (ttu domain username)
- password: relay
- Change your password.
- Select on Accounts in the upper toolbar
- Select Change Password in the left-hand column under Accounts
- Change your password and select Save.
- Publishing Destinations
- Select on Accounts in the upper toolbar
- Select CMAT-TTU-Course in the left-hand column under Publishing Destinations
- If you do not see open text boxes for domain, username, password, and appended path then select thepencil icon on the right under CMAT-TTU-Course
- Fill in the following information to connect to TTU's CMAT server, the destination for your recordings

- username: (ttu domain username for email etc.)
- password: (ttu domain password)
- appended path: (ttu domain username, same as above)
- Select Save

Understanding Your Recorder Features
- What is the screen resolution size and format of the published recording?
- CMAT-TTU-Course profiles are set to 800 x 600 resolution.
- The format is standard mp4. Three files are actually generated and placed in the profile labeled folder on the server: html, mp4 and swf. You may access any of these files.
- Do I have to be connected to the Internet to record?
- You do NOT have to be connected either wired or wirelessly to the Internet in order to record.
- You DO need to be connected sometime after the recording by WIRE to the Internet to send the recording to the server for publication.
- Do I have to be connected to the Internet to publish the recording?
- You DO need to be connected sometime after the recording by WIRE to the Internet to send the recording to the server for publication.
- It is best to select the Submit Button immediately after you are done recording. Do NOT wait to connect to the Internet to submit.
- Can I edit the recordings?
- You can trim the beginning or ending of the recordings before you submit by selecting the Trimming Button.
