Dr. Robert James Clougherty, Jr., director and founder of the Institute for Technological Scholarship has accepted a position at Empire State College in Saratoga, New York as dean of the Center for Graduate Programs. Bob has been on the Tennessee Tech University faculty as a professor of English since 1994. His vision for the Institute began to take shape in February 2001 and the facility opened September 5, 2002. Since its inception, Dr. Clougherty has supported both faculty and students in their use and exploration of technology and has remained on the cutting edge of innovative technologies used to enhance education and the teaching experience, an invaluable asset for the university and the community. As director, he has overseen the application of technology to teaching, including all online courses, at Tennessee Tech. He also served as director of the B.S. degree program in Web Design. On behalf of the those individuals affiliated with the Institute, I would like to extend our gratitude for the inspiration that you have been to each of us. You have not only been a teacher, but also a friend. Most importantly, you have made learning both fun and a challenge. Your passion for teaching, genuine concern for your students, and consistent dedication to go above and beyond the call of duty to help each of us will always be remembered. Your positive energy, unwavering support, and dynamic spirit have touched us all. Bob, we wish you the best as you embark upon your new adventure. We will miss you.
