Second Life
Second Life the online world is reached via computer and internet. In Second Life you can create a new you in any way shape or form. Avatars that represent people in this virtual world designed from the specifications of the users whether it is a walking peanut or a winged female. The possibilities are endless down to the very fabric of reality in the virtual world itself.
Second Life gives you options like no other virtual world before it. Not only can you make your own Salsa dances and designer clothing it's a real time environment with real people on the other end. No avatar in Second Life is preprogrammed or artificial intelligence. However you can make a robot out of primitive shapes, also called prims, that reacts and respond on a low level.
Second Life is a commodity and an education venue. Whether it be that you wish to build a frat house to establish an online identity or open a store to sell virtual sofas for half price the option is there. I've found upon exploring Second Life the noticeable difference in each area I visited. The more commercial areas made to peddle digital wares for virtual shops tended to look like malls. While more organizational areas had a classy feel to them as the privately owned areas were often safe guarded.
The possibilities with Second Life are endless.-Cathleen Figeroua
