Graduate Students by Load, Fall 1996 - Fall 2000


Included below is information about graduate enrollment by load (full-time and part-time). Two commonly used definitions of full-time enrollment are cited and displayed. One is used for the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), a federal data system. The second is for the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR).



IPEDS and Common Dataset:

Full-time = 9 or more credit hours

This definition is used for federal reporting (IPEDS) and for the Common Dataset, which typically is used by publishers and vendors of college guidebooks, databases, and college search software products.

Tennessee Board of Regents:

Full-Time = 12 or more credit hours

Enrollment reporting conventions for the Tennessee Board of Regents stipulate a standard definition of "12 or more credit hours" for a full-time load of graduate instruction.
