Meenakshi Sundaram Named IIE Fellow

Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram will be recognized as an Institute of Industrial Engineering (IIE) Fellow at the IIE National Conference to be held in Miami, Florida, May 2009.

To be eligible for recognition as a Fellow, an IIE member must be nominated by someone who must document that the candidate has demonstrated:

  • Professional career accomplishments in at least one of two areas: management or technical achievement in industry, government, academia
  • Service to the industrial engineering profession in at least two of the following three areas: IIE service, interdisciplinary activity (service to other groups related to industrial engineering), and
  • Publications or promotion of the IE profession/practices.

Dr. Sundaram's achievements can best be summarized by a note he received from Dr. Sid Gilbreath:

"You have spent many productive years furthering the practice of Industrial Engineering, teaching students and professionals, and working for the improvement of IIE. Thank you. IIE is recognizing a deserving "Fellow" indeed."

Dr. Sundaram was nominated by Dr. Deji Badiru, who is currently head of the Systems and Engineering Management program at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton Ohio.
