About TTU Domain Accounts
What is my TTU Domain Account?
All faculty and staff have a TTU Domain Account whether or not
they have had a need to use it.
- If you are receiving your email via the Exchange Server, then
you are using your TTU Domain Account. For example, if you can
access your email via the web at
http://rim.tntech.edu, then your are using your TTU Domain Account.
- If you maintain a web site, whether for a department (TTU web) or for
instructional purposes (Iweb) then you use your TTU Domain password
to access the site.
- In addition, access to
some TTU web sites may be restricted and
require that you logon. If you are asked to logon in a pop-up
window, when
attempting to reach a specific TTU site, you should use your TTU Domain
account (full email address and TTU Domain password).
- Access to the myTTU portal
(coming late Spring 2007) will use your TTU Domain username and password.
Please note that the TTU Domain account and password is NOT the
same as:
- Accessing administrative systems via TTUMIS which uses your TTU
username and a password that must be changed every 3 months.
- Using the Web for Faculty/Advisors, Web for Employees, or Web for
Students which all use your SS Number and a PIN
- Using the new Banner system in which Human Resources supplies you with
your unique ID and you set an alphanumeric password.
- Logging in to iLearn (Desire2Learn) which use your PC Lab
Account.
- Accessing the library catalog or databases which uses your PC Lab
Account.
What is my TTU Domain username and password?
- Your TTU Domain account username is usually your full email address:
username@tntech.edu
- Some applications, such as myTTU
may only require the username portion.
- Editing some web sites my require ttu\username as the username.
- Your initial password is your SS Number, but first time users must reset their password at:
http://www.tntech.edu/its/password.htm
(New faculty and staff have already
done this if they are reading their email at
http://rim.tntech.edu)
In general it is less confusing if you keep your
passwords the same for your various TTU accounts, such as your PC Lab
and TTU Domain accounts.
How can I tell if my office machine is logging into the TTU Domain?
While all faculty and staff have TTU domain accounts, only some are
currently set up to logon to the TTU Domain when they logon to their office
Windows computer. If, when you turn your computer on, the
username you enter for your machine logon is your full
email address, then you are logging on to your local machine with
your Domain Account.
For new faculty and staff, once MicroSupport
has made an appointment and set up Outlook on your office machine,
then you will be logging into the TTU Domain, when you logon to your local
machine.
Other faculty and staff will be moved to this kind of setup as needs
arise and time allows.
