Secure your stuff! (11/28/07)
It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. What? Personal items going missing in the Library. This is particularly true in the period leading to final exams and the holidays.
Keep your bags, purses, books, and laptops with you! You don’t want to find out your textbook was being turned in to the bookstore for money for someone else’s pocket just when you were needing it to study for a final.

Library Job Opening - Daytime Supervisor (11/14/07)
Qualifications--Required Qualifications--Preferred Essential Functions Manages the daytime operations of the Circulation/Reserve Department, which is responsible for checking library materials in and out, re-shelving books and other materials, maintaining proper order of materials on shelves and in files, shifting as required for shelving space, maintaining stack labels, conducting materials inventory when needed, charging overdue fines and fees for lost materials, handling telephone calls from Library users, maintaining copy machines and microform readers, and opening and closing the building. Leads the department in a manner that is consistent with the Library’s Vision and Mission Statements. Develops policy and procedures with the Head of Circulation and Library administration. Maintains policy and procedures manual. Develops schedules for 30 to 60 student assistants. Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of student assistants. Provides patrons with directional and policy information. Processes reserve requests, including creation of item records. Prepares payroll, money, and other reports. Instructs patrons in the use of copy machines. Maintains accurate patron accounts; posts and clears fines and charges with the Business Office. Corresponds with faculty and students concerning recalls, overdues, fines, reserve materials, etc. Provides change for copy machines and accounts for money collected from copy machines and prepares money report for the TTU Business Office. Works at the Circulation Desk as needed. Other responsibilities as assigned. Usually 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. $10.84 per hour, $21,130 annually. Benefits include the initial accumulation of one vacation day per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and education benefits. A virtual library of issue resources from Gale and Greenhaven Press. Examples of social issues you may find in this database include Terrorism, Endangered Species, Stem Cell Research, and Gun Control. Types of resources include pro and con viewpoint articles, reference articles, full-text magazines, academic journals, newspapers, primary source documents, government and organizational statistics, multimedia including images and podcasts, and links to web sites.
A research database that covers science, multicultural studies, business, politics, government, history, entertainment, sports, the arts, and literature. The database contains over 435,000 biographies on about 340,000 people. The biographies come from 125 Gale reference sources and full-text articles from 300 magazines.
