Giving to the Library
Gifts of Monetary Value
Gifts of monetary value for the Library may be made to either: The Friends of the Angelo and Jennette Volpe Library or The Library Support Endowment.
All expenditures are made to further the Vision of the Library. View the Library's Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Core Values. Toward this vision and mission, your help is needed and most appreciated.

Friends of the Angelo and Jennette Volpe Library
The Friends was once an independent foundation. In 2004, the Friends and other Tech foundations were subsumed by The Tech Foundation. As affiliate organizations, the former foundations retain their independence of operation. Almost since its inception, the Friends has funded professional development grants for library faculty.
A few years ago, the Friends began funding grants for clerical staff. Faculty and staff development is critical to the library given the rapid changes libraries have experienced over the last twenty years. Funds from the University simply could not have provided the level and amount of training people have needed.
The Friends also fund special projects. In 2005, the Friends provided $76,000 to expand the Archives, which had reached capacity. In 2007, the Friends provided $60,000 for new equipment for the Production Studio.
The Library Support Endowment
The Library Support Endowment is used to meet critical, often emergency, needs that cannot be funded from University money.
The first purchase was for a computer for a visually-impaired student who desperately needed it to enable her to read class assignments. No other funds were available toward the end of the fiscal year when we became aware of this need.
Another funded project was equiping a newly constructed classroom for library instruction.
Other purchases have been made from this fund, but these are made frugally to allow the Endowment to grow so that needed substantial purchases may be made when necessary.
