Mechanical Engineering at Tech is known as a department that puts the fun in the fundamentals of engineering education. The Baja cars splashing mud and the Formula cars racing for speed catch your eye and show you that hands-on experiences and a high-quality education go hand-in-hand for mechanical engineers.
Mechanical engineering is the knowledge of the design and manufacture of mechanical systems and thermal devices and processes. Some examples of products and processes developed by mechanical engineers include engines and control systems for automobiles and aircraft, electric power generation plants, lifesaving mechanical devices, and a wide variety of consumer products.
You can study power production, noise control, mechatronics, environmental clean-up, machine design and manufacturing and materials regulation and then take those lessons to industry with a co-op experience.
Students receive personal attention from 17 department faculty members. You’ll learn from an assortment of teaching techniques and practices, including classroom discussions, lab experiments and national competitions with design teams such as Autonomous Robots and Baja SAE.
TTU mechanical engineering graduates frequently find employment in the aerospace and automotive industries, government agencies, laboratories, manufacturing facilities and consulting firms.
Accredited by the Engineering Commission of ABET.
