Prof. Allcott studied conducting and cello at the world renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he received his MM in cello performance and completed coursework towards his DM in both conducting and cello. While at IU he was appointed the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's Schmitt Conducting Fellow, and was named the first Herbert von Karajan Conducting Fellow of the American Austrian Foundation at the Salzburg Festival. His studied conducting with Thomas Baldner and Imre Pallo, and has conducted in master classes with Gustav Meier, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Gunther Schuller.

Prof. Allcott studied cello with John Ehrlich, Ann Martindale-Williams, Janos Starker, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and Helga Winold. His chamber music teachers were Michel Block, James Campbell, Rostislav Dubinsky, Josef Gingold and Menahem Pressler.

Appointed Music Director of the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in starting in 2010-11, Maestro Allcott was Music Director and Principal Conductor for Atlanta Ballet from 2000-2010 during which time he led over 250 performances with the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra.

He serves on the faculty of Cellospeak,Tennessee Cello Workshop, and is the President of Tennessee's chapter of American String Teachers Association.
