How Orientation Works
The Orientation program at Tennessee Tech is an easy way for new students can get connected with the University, other students, and their professors. The connection starts with your orientation session in which students learn about the University and their academic departments and also get a glimpse at student life.
Regardless if you are living on campus in the Fall or commuting, orientation continues with Week of Welcome (WOW). Student Orientation Assistants (SOA) will be available to assist new students during Week of Welcome activities and offer any advice from a student perspective. SOAs will be your guide for the first few days here at Tech. There are many events in which you can meet students and find campus organizations that share the same interests as you.
While Week of Welcome is not mandatory, we highly recommend that you attend as many events as possible in order to meet as many people as you can and come to understand the way of life here at TTU.
There is no sign up for Week of Welcome if you live in the residence halls. You will meet the SOA assigned to you on the Thursday (Great Move-In Day) the residence halls open for the Fall semester. If for some reason you haven't heard from your SOA, feel free to contact the Office of Orientation and Student Success on the 3rd floor of the Roaden University Center (Room 339) and we will contact your SOA for you. If you are a transfer or commuter student, you can stop by the Office and they will put you in a group or give you a Week of Welcome schedule.
Congratulations on your decision to attend Tennessee Tech and we will see you during orientation!
