PC majors are also eligible for Jenkins Scholarships through the English Department. If you apply for one of the scholarships below, you will automatically be considered for a Jenkins Scholarship.

Scholarships in Professional Communication

There are two scholarships related to the Professional Communication Program:

The Ballew Professional Communication Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student

1. must be a Professional Communication major;
2. must have a QPA of 2.5 or higher if a Tech student;
3. must have an outstanding record if applying as a high school senior;
4. must demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to community service.

Preference is given to those involved in print media (i.e., yearbook, newspaper, magazine, anthology).

The Vaden Professional Communication Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student

1. must be an entering freshman or transfer student;
2. must be pursuing a degree in Professional Communication;
3. must have a 3.0 QPA;
4. must maintain a 2.5 QPA.

Both scholarships pay part or all of the maintenance fee for the recipient.

Application for either scholarship must be made to Dr. Kristin Pickering; Department of English; Tennessee Technological University; Cookeville, TN 38505.

Application materials include resumé (including statement of TTU or High School QPA) and letter (including agreement to become or remain a Professional Communication major if the applicant becomes the recipient of the scholarship for which he/she applies).

Applications must be received by December 1st for the following academic year.
