Foundations Coordinator: Teaches Art Foundations and Art Appreciation
Kimberly Winkle, foundations coordinator, has taught at TTU since 2003 and is currently an assistant professor of art. Winkle teaches art foundation courses and art appreciation and has previously taught in the wood department at the Appalachian Center for Craft.
Kimberly is a native of Oklahoma where she received her Bachelor of Fine Art with an emphasis in ceramics from the University of Oklahoma. She earned her Master of Fine Art in furniture design from San Diego State University. After completing her graduate studies, she moved to Smithville, TN where she was an Artist in Residence, in the wood department, at the Appalachian Center for Craft.
Alongside teaching, Kimberly Winkle, maintains an active exhibition and artistic practice. Her work has been exhibited widely, including Europe, NYC, Philadelphia, Sante Fe and Chicago. In her art practice, she combines furniture and sculptural elements to create one of a kind art objects in her studio in Smithville, TN. Her work is included in a number of public and private collections, has been published in a variety of national publications and she has received a number of awards for her artwork, including 4 Niche awards and a State of Tennessee Individual Artist Fellowship.
