Dr. Mark Groundland came to Tennessee Technological University in 2005 to teach Spanish language, culture, and literature courses. He earned a B.A. in Spanish and Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1991, an M.A. in Spanish literature from the University of Delaware in 1993 and completed his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in 2004. His teaching posts have included the University of Delaware (1991-93), the University of Kentucky (1995-2000), and North Carolina A&T State University (1993-95, 2000-05). Dr. Groundland’s area of specialization is Spanish literature, sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Spanish literature in particular. He is currently preparing a two part, student edition of Lope de Vega's Arte nuevo de hacer comedias en este tiempo and El mejor alcalde, el rey to be published by Cervantes and Company Spanish Classics Series in 2012. Additionally, Dr. Groundland has been actively indexing journal articles as a bibliographer for the MLA (Modern Languages Association) International Bibliography since 1997.
