At Tennessee Technological University, the ETS Major Field Test
(MFT) in physics, a standardized test utilized by a number of universities
across the country, has been given to all graduating seniors as an exit
exam since 1989. The overall average percentile ranking on the MFT achieved
by the 28 TTU physics seniors during that period is 82; the median percentile
ranking is 85. Almost half (13 of 28) students have achieved a score
at or above the 90th percentile.
