Leadership:

1.1  Promote and effectively communicate the positive impact of TTU on students, alumni, faculty, and community.

Ex: increase outreach activities involving P-16 initiatives or community outreach; pursue exemplary uses of technology;  increase research and service projects; publicize all efforts and awards received through TTU Public Affairs.

Access:

2.1 Enhance the rate and diversity of participation in higher education by Tennesseans.

Ex: attract minority students; attract students from under-represented counties using representatives from those counties; attract students from under-represented counties by offering distance learning and off-campus courses or programs of study.

Quality:

3.1  Increase alumni involvement in activities that promote life-long learning, program improvement, and the mentoring of current students.

Ex:  involve alumni in program evaluation; involve alumni in mentoring students through coops, internships, practicum courses, and mock interviews; offer professional development workshops or distance learning opportunities to improve alumni skills.

3.2  Enhance student involvement to promote healthy social relationships, academic success, and a sense of community within the university.

Ex:  Provide more opportunities for students to interact on projects, in clubs, or through group assignments;  create activities in and outside of the classroom that encourage team-building skills; provide opportunities for service learning; provide tutoring and mentoring programs for new students; create small sections of introductory courses for freshmen that offer more active learning opportunities to help motivate them to declare and commit to a major.

3.3  Develop and implement a QEP that is focused on improving critical thinking/real world problem-solving skills through the use of active learning strategies.

Ex: see the QEP site  for example strategies; look for opportunities to collaborate with other units by searching the QEP database using the report function.

3.4  Enhance the campus infrastructure to effectively support all programs and objectives.

Resourcefulness:

4.1  Stimulate activities that increase external funding and efficiency/cost saving through individual and unit incentives.

Ex: reward cost saving ideas; provide incentives for projects that increase external sources of funding.
