Alisa Frazier Named New TTU Marketing Directo

When she left teaching to pursue a career in marketing 11 years ago, Alisa Frazier never dreamed she'd have the opportunity to work in an educational setting again. But as Tennessee Tech University's new director of marketing, that's exactly where she finds herself.

On the job since the first of August, Frazier, former marketing projects coordinator for the Tri-Cities Regional Airport, is no stranger to jobs combining education and marketing. A 1987 graduate of East Tennessee State University where she majored in English, Frazier taught 11th grade literature at a Florida high school before being offered a position with Orlando-based textbook publisher Harcourt Brace Jovanovich as a promotions' editor.

As a member of HBJ's in-house advertising team, Frazier developed marketing materials for textbook sales representatives; wrote ads, brochures and promotional copy; and planned for the company's participation in trade shows across the United States and Canada.

After starting her family, Frazier took a temporary job with Delta Air Lines in its Walt Disney World marketing offices inside the Magic Kingdom.

In 1996, Frazier was hired as a marketing projects coordinator for the Tri-Cities Regional Airport in Blountville, Tenn. Her duties included planning events, writing advertising copy, producing a quarterly newsletter, and maintaining the airport's web site.

Frazier's new duties as marketing director at Tennessee Tech include coordinating marketing efforts through a marketing committee, evaluating advertising opportunities and developing strategies to fulfill the university's marketing goals.
