Auditions for Tony Kushner’s Angels in America Part I: Millennium Approaches and Angels in America Part II: Perestroika will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. each night in the Backdoor Playhouse, located at the rear of Tennessee Tech University’s Jere Whitson Building.
The plays, which won the 1993 and 1994 Tony Awards for Best Play have been called by the New Yorker’s John Lahr, “a victory for theatre, for the transforming power of the imagination to turn devastation into beauty.”
Casting is open to all interested people, and roles are available for three women and five men, all ranging in age from 20 to 50.
The script calls for double casting, which means actors will be required to play more than one role.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, copies of which are available for 24-hour loan from Director Mark H. Creter. His office is located in Room 225 of South Hall.
Produced through special arrangement with Broadway Play Publishing Inc., the plays are produced by the TTU Center Stage Series, in cooperation with the TTU English department and the Tech players.
