Bacchanal 2009 offers art, music and auction to support scholarships

Don’t miss the art party of the year – plan now to attend Bacchanal 2009: A Celebration of Art, Wine and Food on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 5 p.m., hosted by Spankies Restaurant in Cookeville. This popular, annual event is in support of art student scholarships and programs at Tennessee Tech University and the Appalachian Center for Craft.

Guests will enjoy live jazz by John Richards while they treat themselves to a delicious cocktail buffet, taste a variety wines and specialty beers, and peruse the wide selection of art and fine craft available during the exciting live auction that starts at 2:30 p.m.

Reservations are $40 per person (until Fri., Oct. 23) and $45 at the door the day of the Bacchanal; guests receive commemorative wine and pint glasses and complimentary valet parking. “The Bacchanal’s generous supporters continue to donate artwork, funds, products and services, as well as their immense talents, to the event. The planning and execution of the Bacchanal is a prime example of a successful partnership between the community and the University that provides extensive opportunities for our students,” said Ward Doubet, director of the Appalachian Center for Craft and Bacchanal committee chairman.

“The Bacchanal’s devoted donors have been committed to the success and growth of the event and its mission of supporting art students and their education,” said Jane Dudney Roberts, promotions and development manager at the Craft Center and Bacchanal coordinator.
