Beth Rogers named Tennessee Tech's Records and Registration director

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 24, 2009) — As the new academic year approaches, Tennessee Tech University’s Office of Records and Registration welcomes Beth Rogers, an East Tennessee native, into the director’s chair.
Rogers most recently served four years as Vanderbilt University’s College of Arts and Sciences Registrar/Director. Prior to moving to Nashville, she held several positions at the University of California at Riverside, including assistant registrar of student information system and compliance and senior data analyst.
Rogers says she’s not daunted by the budget challenges facing the state’s higher education institutions and shared her vision for how to meet those challenges.
“In tough budget times, you have to focus on maximizing your abilities with existing technology,” said Rogers. “You don’t expect to be able to add manpower and buy new technology. You work to use what you have to make improvements.”
Rogers holds an MBA with emphasis in management information systems from California Baptist University and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Langston University in Langston, Okla.
Rogers says no matter where she’s lived, her travels back home to East Tennessee have taken her through Cookeville. Several years ago she also met other TTU administrators at a professional conference and came away with a positive impression of our university and community.
“I’ve always admired the beauty of the area and the reputation of the university,” said Rogers.
Rogers arrived on TTU’s campus in late July, replacing Jerri Winningham, who served as interim director for the past year.
