COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 4, 2010)— Corey Breedlove, a Tennessee Tech University student from Nashville, Tenn., has been selected for a one-year cooperative education, or co-op, assignment with Delta Contracting Company LLC in Humboldt, Tenn.

During the assignment that began in August, Breedlove is conducting surveying work on highways and other engineering projects.

"Co-op is an excellent way for students to gain the type of experience that will give them an edge in the job market," said Don Foster, associate director of the Office of Career Services. "In addition to helping students grow and improve their capabilities, co-op also provides income that can be used to help pay for college studies."

Tennessee Tech co-op students currently earn between $11.50 and $20 per hour and major in business, engineering, arts/sciences and education. The university's co-op program began in 1959 and has experienced record student participation during recent semesters. Tennessee Tech co-op office works with more than a hundred employers across the southeast- from businesses to industry and government agencies- to match students' interests with co-op openings.

Breedlove, son of Mark and Sandra Breedlove, is a 2007 graduate of Brentwood Academy and a junior civil engineering major.
