Business Show Expands in 7th Year

WCTE-TV's popular "Upper Cumberland Business Profiles," hosted by Tennessee Technological University Marketing Professor Don Weinrauch, enters its seventh year with an expanded format.

In addition to informative interviews with the area's business and industry leaders, the show now features consumer issues, providing tips to improve lifestyles and finances.

Upcoming guests and their topics include the following:

  • Oct. 4: Attorney Walter Crawford on estate planning
  • Oct. 11: Entrepreneur Dickey Hinton on starting a bed-and-breakfast
  • Oct. 18: Dave Thomas of WPTN/WGSQ ("The Country Giant") on the radio industry

Future guests and topics include Dr. Stephen Goryl, Dr. Kathy Bertram, Randy Porter of the Putnam County Ambulance Service and Steve Mathias of Lazarus House on health care issues; Cookeville Fire Department Chief Gene Schmid; and a number of area business owners.

A member of the business faculty since 1977, Weinrauch won Tennessee Tech's 1996 Outstanding Faculty Award for Professional Service. He is a former recipient of the university's Caplenor Faculty Research Award and a six-time winner of outstanding teaching and research awards in the College of Business Administration, including the Curtis Kinslow Award for Excellence in Teaching.

"Upper Cumberland Business Profiles" -- which airs twice weekly at 8 p.m., Fridays, and 4 p.m., Sundays -- is a partnership of Tennessee Tech, Channel 22 and First Tennessee Bank.
