Ceramic installation on display at Craft Center
Oklahoma artist Whitney Forsyth’s ceramic pieces will be on display at Tennessee Tech University’s Appalachian Center for Craft from Thursday, May 3, until Thursday, June 14.
Forsyth’s work represents personal stories and each piece represents a relationship or experience she has had. An associate professor of art at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma, she grew up exploring nature in Colorado woods and Oklahoma gardens. Her work has grown out of a lifetime spent closely observing nature.
The large-scale, sculptural installation will be in Gallery Two. The Craft Center’s galleries are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and admission is free.
Forsyth’s work has been shown across the nation and as part of public and corporate collections. Her art has been published in 500 Ceramic Sculptures, Sculpture Reference Book and Making Ceramic Sculpture.
The Appalachian Center for Craft is conveniently located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south on Hwy. 56; turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
