Ceramic sculpture exhibit at Craft Center through July 21

thumb_11.FirepinkLocal artist Nancy Jacobsohn’s exhibit, Memory of Wings, features figurative ceramic sculpture on display now through July 21 at Tennessee Tech University’s Appalachian Center for Craft, Gallery Two.

Jacobsohn’s exhibit includes narrative sculptures that capture stories of women young and old.

“My work is autobiographical and I choose to create from my own experience because I can communicate those subjects with passion,” she said.

In her imagery, Jacobsohn uses two recurring figures: horses and women. These icons help her express what it is like to be a woman. The sculptures tell stories that are sometimes personal and other times communicate a shared, uniquely female perspective.

Jacobsohn resides in Sparta with her husband, horses, dogs and an ever-increasing number of barn cats.

The Appalachian Center for Craft is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south on Highway 56. Turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center. The gallery is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
