Ceramics instructor exhibits work at Craft Center
He digs the clay he uses himself and mines for materials to make his own glazes from Seagrove, N.C. Samples of his work, including large jars and smaller functional ware, will be in the North Windows Gallery of the Appalachian Center for Craft at Tennessee Tech University until Friday, August 10.
During that time, he will teach an intensive ceramic workshop at the Craft Center.
“The refining process is labor intensive,” he said. “But the simplicity of mining clay and transforming it into useful and beautiful objects is greatly rewarding and fulfilling on many levels.”
The Appalachian Center for Craft is conveniently located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south on Hwy. 56; turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
