Clarinetist to give concert at TTU

Clarinetist Donald Oehler will give a concert at 10 a.m. March 1 in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of Tennessee Tech University’s Bryan Fine Arts Building.

A professor of music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Oehler has worked as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor.

After graduating from the Julliard School of Music, he began his career as principal clarinetist of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Teheran in Teheran, Iran, before joining the music faculty at UNC Chapel Hill in 1971.

Oehler is a charter member of the St. Stephen’s Chamber Orchestra and has been performing for more than 30 years with the Carolina Wind Quintet.

His performances have taken him throughout North and Central America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Oehler’s visit is sponsored by TTU’s Center Stage, which is made possible by the university’s general education fund. The event is free and open to the public.
