Clinton County’s Sawyers receives sociology award from TTU

thumb AS_KentuckyTennessee Tech University senior Jordan Sawyers of Albany is the 2012 recipient of the Mookherjee sociology award.

This award was created by the Mookherjee family, which includes Harsha Mookherjee, a TTU sociology professor, his wife, Ira, and their daughter, Paramita, a TTU alumna.

To receive this award, students must be a senior majoring in sociology and have a GPA of 3.25 or above. Students are also required to have presented a paper at a state, regional or national sociological meeting.

Sawyers is a 2008 graduate of Clinton County High School and the daughter of Sandi Boils and Jimmy Sawyers. Sawyers is the granddaughter of Jim and Betty Sawyers, Sue and J. R. Albertson and Frankie Boils.

Sawyers is an alumni member of Omega Phi Alpha, Epsilon Chapter and the National Service Sorority. She plans to attend graduate school for clinical social work.
