Cook, Sherfield receive award from Tennessee Tech University

Two students at Tennessee Tech University received the Dr. Flavious Smith Student Athlete Award from the exercise science, physical education and wellness department this spring.

Tevis Sherfield, of Cookeville, is a senior at TTU. A member of the university baseball team, he has been named Wendy’s Scholar Athlete and received the OVC Medal of Honor. He belongs to the Student Athletic Advisement Committee. His parents are Rodger and Michelle Sherfield.

Kylie Cook, of Madison, Ala., is also a senior. A member of the women’s basketball team, she has received the TTU Horizon Award, and been named Wendy’s Scholar Athlete and Miss Golden Eagle Basketball. She is a member of the student athletic advisement committee. Her parents are Jim and Tracie Cook.

The award is presented annually to a male and a female athlete who excels in athletics and maintains very high standards in the classroom.
