Craft Center gears up for weekend and evening workshopsCreativity will be in bloom this spring at the Appalachian Center for Craft’s evening and weekend workshops for individuals whose skill levels range from beginner through advanced.
“Spring is such a wonderful time at the Craft Center,” said Gail Gentry, workshop and event coordinator. “It’s a great environment to immerse yourself in a craft workshop, where you can learn something new or just brush up your skills and techniques.”
A wide variety of workshop topics will be offered, including jewelry making, bookbinding, glass blowing, woodworking, blacksmithing, ceramics, raku firing and fabric marbling.
“And that list just scratches the surface of everything that will be available this spring at the Craft Center,” Gentry said.
Evening workshops are scheduled to run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays from Feb. 27 through April 24, and on Tuesdays from Feb. 28 through April 25.
Weekend workshops are set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Feb. 25 and 26, March 18 and 19, and April 22 and 23. The walkway café, the on-site restaurant at the Craft Center, will be open during weekend workshops.
Participants can register for workshops three ways — by calling the Craft Center, by completing the registration form on a printed brochure or by printing the registration form on the Craft Center web site and either mailing it to 1560 Craft Center Drive, Smithville, Tenn., 37166, or faxing it to 615/597-6803.
Anyone who presents a valid TTU Eagle Card identification and signs up within the month prior to the selected workshop will receive a 50 percent discount on his or her registration fees — as long as that workshop hasn’t already filled.
