Denso donates $4,000 to TTU Mini Baja Team

Tennessee Tech University's Mini-Baja team received an unexpected gift to culminate Engineers Week on campus when DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee presented the team with a check for $4,000. The money will help fund the Mini Baja Team Endowment created in honor of Robert Smoak, former TTU professor and team adviser. The team builds and designs vehicles in TTU's DENSO Vehicle Engineering Center, funded with $120,000 from DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee and the DENSO North America Foundation. Mini Baja is a design competition that challenges engineering students to work as a team in the designing, building and testing of an off-road vehicle that is capable of negotiating rough terrain. Tennessee Tech ranks as one of the most successful teams in Mini Baja history. At the presentation are (front row) Chris Reedy, Dale Wilson, Sara Harris (DENSO), Michelle Clarke (DENSO), Jody Knight (DENSO), (back row) Andrew Hughes, Jacky Shoulders, Alex Hall, former team captain Justin Stacy, current team captain Andrew Bryant, and Amy Newton.
