Engineering education takes the spotlight in February as Tennessee Tech University celebrates its annual Engineers’ Week.

This year, organizers encourage area students, alumni and community members to watch some of the fun activities associated with engineering education and the annual competition for “Best Darn Major.”
"I would especially like to invite all Cookeville High School, Avery Trace and Prescott Central students to view Engineers’ Week 2010,” said Azuráe Johnson, TTU’s Engineering Joint Council president. “As an alumnus from each of these schools, I know that every student can benefit from seeing these events.

“Additionally, I encourage students to participate in Engineers’ Week's Engineering A Future program,” she said. “Participating in Engineering A Future as a young girl was one of the first times I considered majoring in engineering. I am thankful for all of Tennessee Tech's engineering programs that have helped to shape my career goals, and I look forward to facilitating an awe-inspiring experience for children of every age."

EJC plans and facilitates Engineers’ Week on campus every February. Engineers’ Week is a nationally celebrated event in honor of engineers created by the National Engineers’ Week Foundation.

This year’s events—Feb. 15-20—include competitions, the annual College of Engineering banquet and Engineering a Future, a program to encourage young girls to foster an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
