Enjoy local Balloons Around the World celebration at TTU
Office of Communications & Marketing
TTU's Millard Oakley STEM Center will host the event that coincides with balloon artists around the world designing sculptures to highlight the act of giving, to deliver thousands of smiles, and to showcase the art of balloon twisting and decorating.
But there's more to the local event that will donate all proceeds to support Cookeville Children's Museum.
Visitors will be able to bid on large, multi-balloon sculptures such as flower arrangements, motorcycles and cartoon characters. There will even be molecular models for the scientists at heart.
Artists and scientists Dan Swartling and Janet Gray Coonce will create the sculptures and put them on display for the silent clipboard auction from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The auction will close at 7:30 p.m.
The event also features hands-on science demonstrations for all ages by Kathy Rust, Andrew Callender, TTU's American Chemical Society Student Affiliates, and TTU's chemistry department.
For a treat, chemistry students will also sell their liquid nitrogen ice cream for $1 a cup.
The public is invited to the free event. The Oakley STEM Center is located at 155 West 7th Street.
