Exhibit by Gavin O'Grady opens on Aug. 18 at TTU Craft Center

An exhibit of furniture and mixed media entitled “Afloat” by Gavin O’Grady will be opening on Friday, Aug. 18, in the Appalachian Center for Craft’s Gallery One.

O’Grady creates sculpture that incorporates traditional furniture techniques while also integrating “re-functioned” objects.

By using an object’s original context, incorporated with those re-functioned objects, he creates pieces that are vehicles for meaning and subsequently begins a dialogue between the user and the object.

O’Grady has a bachelor of arts in applied design and a master of fine arts in furniture design from San Diego State University.

The Craft Center, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University, is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40. To get there, take Exit 273, then Highway 56 south toward Smithville, turning left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge.
