Exhibit by nationally known ceramic artist on display at Craft Center through July 29

Laying of Hands, an exhibit of ceramic sculpture by Christine Federighi, will be on display in Gallery Two of the Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University, through July 29.

A nationally known and widely exhibited ceramic artist, Federighi produced the metaphoric sculptures through an enlightening and poetic personal journey. An enigmatic spiritual narrative is told through the strong, figurative work.

Her carved ceramic forms, embellished with oil patina, depict human-esque features with narrative symbols — such as dogs, plants, spirals and other imagery — incorporated on their textured surfaces.

The symbolic imagery on the background of the human form is meant to lead viewers through an intense, individual venture.

The Craft Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. To get there, take Interstate 40 to Exit 273, turn south toward Smithville and go approximately six miles on Highway 56, turning left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge.
