Exhibit celebrates ‘Family, Friends and Food’
“Family, Friends and Food” is the title of Sam Alexander’s senior thesis exhibition in metals in the North Windows Gallery of the Appalachian Center for Craft from April 27 until May 3. A reception is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 1.
Alexander’s show is inspired by his personal background, with food as a huge part of the social aspect of family. He decided to portray this by creating kitchen knives, a grill set and a wine rack. Alexander has fabricated a driveway gate for his sister’s future in-laws, representing protection of the family. On display will also be a shadow box dedicated to the memory of his grandfather.
The Appalachian Center for Craft is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south on Highway 56; turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
