Five from Rutherford County receive scholarships from TTU
Tennessee Tech University students Michael Holloway, Travis Johnson, Melissa Edwards, Savannah Nolen and Elizabeth Melton are the 2012 recipients of scholarships from the College of Arts and Sciences.
Holloway, a 2004 graduate of Smyrna High School, is the son of Frank and Ruth Ventrice of Baxter. A math major, he received the Stanley Dolzycki Memorial Scholarship.
Johnson, a 2011 graduate of Blackman High School, is the son of Robert and Debra Johnson of Murfreesboro, and is a sophomore physics major. Johnson received the Physics Scholarship.
Edwards, a 2010 graduate of Smyrna High School, is the daughter of Alfredo and Sheri Edwards of Smyrna, and granddaughter of Robert Chapman. She received the Leo McGee Scholarship. Edwards is a junior journalism and communications major at TTU and is a member of TTU’s ROTC program, Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and Omega Phi Alpha service sorority.
Nolen, a 2011 graduate of Siegel High School, is the daughter of Mac and Lisa Nolen of Murfreesboro. She is a freshman physics major at TTU and was awarded the Physics Scholarship. She is a member of TTU’s Robotics club.
Melton, a 2008 graduate of Smyrna High School, is the daughter of William and Sylvia Melton of Smyrna. She is a senior biochemistry and biology major at TTU. Melton received the Bob Oglesby Endowed Scholarship.
