Fredrick Kennedy voice recital on Feb. 2 highlights Russian, Spanish composers

Take a musical journey to Russia and Spain when Fredrick Kennedy presents a faculty voice recital at 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, at the Wattenbarger Auditorium of Tennessee Tech University’s Bryan Fine Arts Building.

“I’ve prepared a recital this year that is a little different from the programming of standard literature,” he said. “It will feature songs from the countries of Russia and Spain.”

The recital will include groups of songs by Russian composer Sergei Rachmanino and Spanish composer Xavier Montsalvatge.

Other features will include songs composed by Back, Sowerby and Hoiby and traditional spirituals arranged by Jacqueline Hairston and Hall Johnson.

Internationally known pianist and coach Henri Venanzi will accompany Kennedy.

The show is free and open to the public.
