Free Web Photos Nov. 21

You've seen them, you've used them, maybe you've even laughed at them. Now it's time to create your own -- a personal web page, that is.

Photo Services and Tennessee Tech's Web Team will be making free digital photos of university students, faculty and staff from 9:30 to 2:30, Thursday, Nov. 21, in the front lobby of the UC.

They're inviting you to bring a 3.5 inch formatted diskette and have your photo made. You'll also get help setting up a personal home page with your photo in it on the World Wide Web. You can do this at the event or pick up handouts that guide you through the process. Team members will fine-tune your image using Photoshop and provide you with a copy on diskette, which you can use for a variety of purposes, including e-mailing friends and cyberacquaintances.

Also at the event, team members will survey people to see what they would like to see on the university's web site, and WTTU staffers are expected to be on hand with music and giveaways.

Web team member Barbara Goodson estimates that close to one hundred faculty, students and staff now have personal pages on the World Wide Web. "Publishing a page is a great way to learn HTML and find out what web publishing dynamics are all about."

Using templates she developed, students and others will find the process easy, painless and fun, although it's not necessary to follow the template to publish a page.
