German Klub hosts Oktoberfest Oct. 13
The German Klub is bringing a taste of German culture to campus with Oktoberfest from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Tech Pride room of the Roaden University Center.
Oktoberfest is one of the main fundraisers for the German Klub, which sponsors field trips and other cultural awareness events throughout the year.
Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for non-students and must be purchased in advance. A ticket covers a full dinner of sausage, sauerkraut, bread, drink and apple strudel. Tickets may be purchased beginning today until Monday, Oct. 10 in South Hall 231.
Entertainment will include arm wrestling and tongue twisters. Fine German chocolates also will be available for purchase at the event. An apple cider and sparkling water mix will be served as well.
Oktoberfest is a beer festival that originated in Munich in 1810. It runs from late September to the first weekend in October, with its schedule determined each year by the timing of German Unity Day. More than five million people attend the Munich festival every year, and other cities worldwide hold Oktoberfest celebrations as well. About 7 million liters of German beer are typically served during the Munich festival alone.
