Glass sculpture exhibit influenced by modern architecture
Thoryn Ziemba’s senior thesis exhibition in glass will be shown through Sunday, April 18, in Gallery One of the Appalachian Center for Craft with a reception scheduled 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 17.
“From the Middle” is a display of formal glass sculpture influenced by modern architecture and graffiti. The work uses glass forms as canvas for philosophical and scientific thought.
“I want people to draw their own conclusions about the work, but I try to leave them a bread crumb trail to the starting point,” Ziemba said. Ziemba came to The Craft Center five years ago and this show is the culmination of his thesis. While at the school, he has been the recipient of two national awards, a Niche glass sculpture award and A Wingate Fellowship.
