Gribble chosen to lead Records & Registration Office

Proving their commitment to enhance student service on campus, Tennessee Tech University officials recently chose Yvonne Gribble of Cookeville to head the university's Office of Records and Registration.

Gribble, who earned her bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from Tennessee Tech in 1999, understands first-hand what students need from the Records and Registration Office.

"Beyond the student application for admissions, all other permanent student records and information such as grades, registration, transcripts, and so on, are all handled by our office," Gribble said. "Not only do we keep records, but we also serve the students in other ways. We solve all sorts of problems. We get inquiries from students, parents, spouses, grandparents, and organizations that want to verify information given them for employment or other reasons. We help students with everything from questions like 'WhereÕs the infirmary?' to course matriculation. If a student canÕt get satisfaction anywhere else, they usually find it in the Records office."

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Gribble spent three and a half years in the U.S. Army as a communications and electronics specialist. While her experiences then sparked her interest in computers, she spent the next eight years managing home-based businesses while she raised her children.

Gribble later enrolled at TTU as a non-traditional student after receiving the prestigious Coca-Cola Scholarship for first-generation college students. Since then she also earned the Cookeville Business and Professional Women's Scholarship and the College of Business Administration Foundation APICS Scholarship. Her oldest daughter is now a sophomore at the university.

"Having graduated from TTU as a non-traditional student, I feel I bring a unique insight to the position, being familiar with staff, faculty and the type of student who chooses to attend here helps in a lot of the decisions I have to make," Gribble said. "And being familiar with our system and processes gives me an added edge.

"I have a tremendous staff that makes it fun to come to work. Beyond that, I hope to provide the kind of leadership that will make positive changes to enhance the quality education and experiences students receive here at Tennessee Tech. Being able to help the students has always been the greatest reward."
