Guest tenor Richard Cox to be in concert here on Oct. 17

Guest tenor Richard Cox will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 in Tennessee Tech University’s Wattenbarger Auditorium.

This Center Stage event, which is free and open to the public, marks the reopening of Wattenbarger Auditorium after a renovation project to install new lighting and audio-visual equipment.

Cox, an alumnus of TTU’s music department who also has a master’s degree from Florida State University and an artist diploma from Julliard, is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships.

He has earned grants from such organizations as the Sullivan Foundation, Opera Index Inc. and the Shoshana Foundation.

Cox has also received a Lucrezia Bori Grant for foreign study and the Campbell Watcher Memorial Award for singers from the Santa Fe Opera. He has also been honored with the Vocal Arts Honors Recital at Alice Tully Hall.

For the TTU concert, Cox will be joined by pianist Donna Gill, who has performed with singers and instrumentalists throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

She has been heard in recital at Alice Tully Hall and Paul Hall at Lincoln Center, as well as other venues in the New York area.
