Hamilton County’s Lockert receives award from TTU

Jake Lockert, of Signal Mountain, received the Raymond (Bull) Brown scholarship from Tennessee Tech University’s exercise science, physical education and wellness department this spring.

Lockert, son of Jason Lockert, is a pre-physical therapy major. The junior is an intern and coach at Cross Fit Mayhem and the student director of UCSC.

Brown was an assistant football and baseball coach at TTU and a member of its Athletic Hall of Fame. After retiring from TTU, he became mayor of Cookeville. To receive the scholarship, a student must be in good standing with the university with a grade point average of at least 2.75 and pursing a career in health and physical education.
