'Haunted Homecoming' activities fill Oct. 31 weekend

Tennessee Tech University’s Awesome Eagle may be dressing as the Grim Reaper, but this year’s homecoming festivities will be lively and family friendly as the university takes advantage of the Oct. 31 date.
“A Haunted Homecoming” will feature events Thursday, Oct. 29, through Sunday, Nov. 1, for alumni and the community.
Thursday, Oct. 29
» Black Alumni Reunion Professional Panel - 11 a.m., in the Black Cultural Center, second floor, Roaden University Center.
» Black Alumni Reunion Professional Day Social - 6:30 p.m., Noble Cody Suite, second floor, Roaden University Center.
Friday, Oct. 30
» College of Arts & Sciences Board of Visitors meeting - 9 a.m.-
3 p.m., Nursing Building, Room 260.
» Pep Rally - 5 p.m., Memorial Gym on the Quad.
» Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner - 6:30 p.m., in the Multipurpose Room on the second floor of the Roaden University Center. Cost is $25 per person. Reservations are required: Please call (931) 372-3940 by Friday, Oct. 16, and ask for Sandy Zimmerman to make a reservation.
» NPHC "Thriller" Step Show - 8 p.m., located in Derryberry Auditorium. Please contact the Office of Minority Affairs at (931) 372-3392 for information or to purchase tickets.
» Alpha Phi Alpha's Homecoming Alumni Affair - 11 p.m., located at Ruby Tuesday's on Interstate Dr. in Cookeville. Tickets: $20, if purchased before Oct. 23. Tickets will be $25 at the door. Contact the Office of Minority Affairs at (931) 372-3392 for more information or to purchase tickets.

» Speech & Debate Teams Continental Breakfast - 8 a.m. Past and present members of the Speech and Debate Teams are invited to a complimentary continential breakfast in the Faculty Dining Room of the Cafeteria on the first floor of the Roaden University Center. In addition to the breakfast, there will be a short performance. Call Dr. Graham Kash at (931) 372-3314, if you'd like more information.
» Minority Affairs Scholarship Breakfast - 9 a.m., second floor of the Roaden University Center in the Multipurpose Room. Students are free; Alumni $10.
» "Great Rebel Rifle/Pershing Rifle/CAPERS Reunion" Welcome Reception & Breakfast - 9 a.m., in the second floor lobby of the Roaden University Center. Rebel Rifles who wish to march (walk or ride) in the parade with the ROTC Department will meet here at 9:30 a.m., before going to the parade starting place.
» TTU Alumni Breakfast - 9:30 a.m., in the second floor lobby of the Roaden University Center.
» Homecoming Parade - 10:30 a.m. Parade route begins on South Dixie Ave., and ends on 12th St., behind Tucker Stadium.
» Alumni & Friends Tailgate Lunch - 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., in Magic 98.5 Tailgate Park behind Tucker Stadium. In addition to the TTU Alumni tent, various other groups will have tents or tables set up for alumni and friends — some with displays, giveaways and faculty present.
» College of Business "A Walk in Your Shoes" Booth - 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., in the Magic 98.5 Tailgate Park. Share your favorite Tennessee Tech memory in the digital storybook. Participants will receive a copy of their recording, and we'll also use it in selected University publications. A free prize will also be given to those who participate, so be sure to stop by!

» ROTC/Rebel Rifle Reunion Tailgate & Open House in Cadet Lounge - 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The Cadet Lounge is located in the ROTC offices in Tucker Stadium on the west side.
» Homecoming Football Game - 1:30 p.m., at Tucker Stadium. Cheer for the Golden Eagles as they take on Tennessee State University!
» Chemistry Alumni Homecoming Reception - Following the game, join faculty and alumni in Foster Hall for coffee and Halloween treats. We'll also have tables set up at the pre-game Tailgate with lots of fun activities and balloon sculpting for kids, students and alumni!
» Civil & Environmental Engineering Cookout - 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., The Civil & Environmental Engineering Alumni Advisory Board will be hosting a CEE cookout at the TTU Alumni tent next to the tennis courts in the Magic 98.5 Tailgate Park after the game. Also, check out the TTU CEE groups on LinkedIn and Facebook.
» Wesley Foundation After-the-Game Reception - 5 p.m., at the Wesley Foundation.
» "Great Rebel Rifle/Pershing Rifle/CAPERS Reunion" Reception & Dinner - 6 p.m., in the Tech Pride Room on the first floor of the Roaden University Center. If you cannot come to anything else, you'll want to be at this event! It will be informal and lots of fun!
