Joshua Hauser trombone recital tonight showcases the instrument's vocal qualitiesJoshua Hauser will present a faculty trombone recital Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building. Admission is free. The concert will feature works by composers James Curnow, Ernst Sachse, Greg Danner, Edward Gregson and Giuseppe Verdi. The evening’s performance will showcase the vocal qualities of the trombone in two operatic works. Hauser will be accompanied by Paul Thurmond on piano.
The Spring Trumpet Festival will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m.
Eric J. Willie will present a faculty percussion recital on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m.
Appalachian Center for Craft
Mary Frisbee Johnson will present a metals and jewelry exhibit, entitled, ‘New Works in Tin and Silver’ Jan. 28 through March 10 in the North Windows Gallery.
David Collins will present a mixed media teapots exhibit, entitled, 'Functility T’s Three’ Feb. 21 through March 28 in Gallery One.
The annual Artist in Residence exhibition, featuring a variety of craft media, will be held Feb. 28 through April 8 in Gallery Two.
Joan Derryberry Art Gallery
Zachary Orcutt’s mechanical sculpture exhibit will be shown Feb. 11 through March 7 in the Joan Derryberry Art Gallery. Orcutt will present a gallery talk at a reception on Thursday, Feb. 14. Orcutt has a bachelor of fine art in sculpture from Syracuse University and a master of fine art in sculpture from Bowling Green State University. He has taught at the university level and is currently a production welder for the service industry. His sculpture has been exhibited around the country and internationally in Argentina and Italy.
The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Hwy. 56 (Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
