Metals BFA exhibit by Sarah Ellen Garrett on display at Craft Center through April 20

A bachelor of fine arts exhibition in metals by Sarah Ellen Garrett titled “Reflections of a Century” will be on display from April 14-20 in Gallery One of the Appalachian Center for Craft.

Garrett’s work is inspired by her mother’s jewelry box.

“As a little girl going through this treasure trove of heirlooms, my mother would tell me the history of each piece as I pulled it out of its individual box,” Garrett said.

“The pieces of jewelry in my show each allude to a decade in the past century, yet they are not meant to be recreations of any particular piece. Each decade had multiple references pulled from it, spanning across the entire ten years and from facets of life during that time.”

A reception for the artist is set for 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 in Gallery One of the Craft Center.

The Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus of TTU, is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville / McMinnville). Go south on Highway 56, and turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
