Metals exhibit by Donovan Widmer runs through March 10 at Craft Center

An exhibition of metals by Donovan Widmer titled “Pardon My Skepticism” will be on display through March 10 in the North Windows Gallery of the Appalachian Center for Craft.

Widmer’s work is assembled from found materials and appropriated images that are deconstructed and combined with fabricated elements produced from precious and semiprecious metals.

His works are meticulously crafted and employ traditional metalsmithing processes. The resulting compositions examine and critically assess our present culture, values and belief systems.

Widmer is an assistant professor of art at the University of North Dakota. He received a master of fine arts in metalsmithing from the School of Art at Illinois State University and a bachelor of fine arts from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.

The Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus of TTU, is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville / McMinnville). Go south on Highway 56, and turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
