KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. – A group representing Tennessee Tech University gathers Nov. 15 in front of Launch Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The photo was taken the night before the spectacular launch of space shuttle Atlantis’ STS-129 mission piloted by TTU alum and former Golden Eagles football player Navy Capt. Barry “Butch” Wilmore.
After the twin sonic booms echoed and Atlantis came out of a clear-blue sky, the vehicle and crew touched down on Kennedy's Shuttle Landing Facility on Nov. 27, ending the 11-day mission to deliver equipment and supplies to the International Space Station.
