Only four weeks of Craft Center summer workshops remainingThe Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University, has only four weeks of summer workshop classes left.
This opportunity is especially notable for TTU employees and students, since the remaining workshops are all available at a 50 percent discount off the workshop fees.
In a week, participants can learn how to forge their own tools, make sculpture with steel, sculpt animals in clay, build furniture, blow glass, make books, create pottery, turn wood, and the list goes on.
The second session of the summer workshop season at the Craft Center starts July 9 and ends Aug. 3. Each Monday, a new session of five-day intensive workshops begin, and advanced reservations are required.
Workshops are available for all skill levels — from the complete beginner to the studio professional. Detailed workshop descriptions are available online at the Craft Center web site, or call for a copy of the catalog.
The Craft Center is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south toward Smithville on Highway 56 and turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
