Parade, reunions and Tuba Ensemble highlight TTU Homecoming Nov. 4-5
Campus and student organizations have planned several days of festivities, many of which are open to the public or TTU alumni. For details on all the events, visit www.ttualumni.org and refer to the homecoming calendar.
The two main events, the parade and the football game, are on Saturday. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. The parade route is from Spring Street to 12th Street on Dixie Avenue. The football game against Murray State begins at 1:30 p.m.
Other highlights on Saturday include an alumni continental breakfast at 9 a.m. at the Roaden University Center, as well as a designated alumni tailgating tent with lunch for $5.
Special reunions are planned for several groups: past presidents of the Associated Student Body and the Student Government Association; Rebel Rifles, Pershing Rifles, Golden Nuggets, CAPERS and sponsors; and the Whitson-Hester School of Nursing, class of 1986.
TTU’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Regents Online Degree Program will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a reception on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Tech Pride room of the Roaden University Center.
The Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble will celebrate its 45th year with a reunion and a special concert Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts building. The concert is free and open to the public. The Tubas Unlimited, a group of eight ensemble alumni who have gone on to teach at other universities and play in several military bands, will perform. The concert will conclude TTU’s annual Octubafest, a series of concerts and performances in celebration of the instruments of the tuba family.
